Membership:
ASMP New England, one of 40 ASMP chapters, offers programs and activities for members in the New England region. ASMP is the leading trade association for photographers who photograph primarily for publication. ASMP, founded in 1944, has over 5,000 members. The organization offers forums in which members can share ideas, concerns and fellowship. ASMP fosters the belief that photographer’s common interests are best advanced by common action.

Categories of Membership:
General Member
Photographer must be actively and professionally
engaged in publication photography with three or more consecutive
years of substantial publication experience from date of first published
work. This publication record must generate the major portion (over
50%) of earned income. General members are the only voting members
of the Society and receive all publications and benefits at no additional
charge. General Members are the only members to have access to the
ASMP Only section of the national Forum and are the only members
be listed on “Find a Photographer “ on the national
asmp.org website. A review of publication experience is required.
Applicants must be sponsored by two general members which can be
arranged by the Membership Chair.
Annual Dues: $300.00 One-time web fee: $50.00
Associate Member
This category includes all photographers who
do not qualify to be a general member. They will receive all publications
of the Society and a CD copy of ASMP Profession Business Practices
in Photography. Associate members cannot vote or be listed on the
Find a Photographer on the national asmp.org website.
Annual dues: $200.00
Emerging Member, a
sub-category of Associate, is a one year only category to serve
as a transition for photographers who are starting or are assistants.
After one year, the dues will automatically be billed at the full
associate member level. Benefits are the same as an Associate Member.
Annual Dues: $125.00
Affiliate Member is
for individuals, self employed or employed by organizations that
service, supply, sell or educate photographers in some way.
Annual dues: $200.00
Student Members are
full time students at the college or post secondary level that are
majoring in the visual communications field. Written proof of full
time enrollment from a department head, admissions office, class
schedule etc. on official school letterhead must accompany the application.
Individuals can remain a student member for one year after completion
of their degree. Student members will receive a copy of ASMP professional
Business Practices in Photography book at the time their application
is approved.
Annual dues: $55.00
